five Sri Lankan men were sentenced to death, including one in absentia, as they were found guilty of killing a compatriot in Doha last February. Qatar authorities believe the murder of Sri Lankan Tamil Manokaran, 25, was a case of “political assassination” as he was a former member of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). The charge-sheet said the main suspect supplied his accomplices with iron bars and face masks to carry out the crime.
