a Bahrain court upheld the death sentence against Jassim Abdulmanan for murdering Bangladeshi Ridar Mian, after luring him to an isolated farm in Janusan with the promise of sex with a girl. Co-defendants Krishnanya Sal Abdulrahman and Abdulmanam Abdulghani had their life sentences reduced to 15 years, after the victim's family accepted blood money. Abdulmanan strangled Mian in October, 2005, by wrapping cloth around his neck, while the other two allegedly held him down. A police medical report said he suffered multiple injuries in the struggle. Mian’s body was buried in a ditch, and was discovered the following day by a farm worker. The three men stole Mian’s wallet containing BD 400. Ringleader Abdulmanan was sentenced to death by the High Criminal Court on January 17, 2007. Abdulrahman and Abdulghani were also convicted of murder and jailed for life.
