A bill that was introduced in the Vermont House. Reps. Carl Haas and Virginia Duffy, both Rutland Republicans, led 8 other lawmakers in offering the proposal. Their bill would impose the death penalty for convictions of aggravated murder, murder of a law-enforcement officer, and murder while on escape from state custody. Vermont has not executed anyone since 1954.
