a court convicted a young man handing him down death penalty for killing a man eight months before. The convict is Shahidul Islam, 22, an employee of Sharif Store at Kodda Bazar and son of Samej Uddin of Jolarpara village of Koultia union of Sadar upazila. According to the prosecution, Shariful Islam, owner of Sharif Store and a resident of Kathaliapara village was slaughtered to death by Shahidul on his way to the shop from his village home at the night of January 4, 2011. Police recovered the body from near Kodda Bazar the next morning. Shahidul was arrested and the charge-sheet was filed. He confessed before the court that he killed Shariful and looted Tk 91,000 (1,078.20 USD) from his shop. Tanzina Ismail, judge of the district and session judge`s court, pronounced the judgment after examining all records and 16 witnesses.
