A court in Chad sentenced four men to death for the murder of Sudanese businessman Acheik Ibni Oumar Idriss Youssouf, who headed the Chad Petroleum company.
Youssouf, who was also a member of the Sudanese parliament, was shot dead at point blank range by two men on motorbikes as he was leaving his hotel in the Chadian capital, Ndjamena, on September 25, 2003.
Mahamat Issa was found guilty of murder, Adouma Ali Ahmat of ordering the killing.
Abdramane Hamid Haroun and Moubarack Bakhit were convicted of aiding and abetting murder.
The presiding judge said the four would have the right to appeal for clemency from the president.
