A court in eastern Kazakhstan passed the death sentence on two criminals who shot a man, his wife and their daughter, Kazakh television reported.
"East Kazakhstan Regional court has found two criminals guilty of shooting the Nurpeisovs, a man, his wife and their 13-year-old daughter, and has sentenced them to death," the TV report said over video of court proceedings.
Two unemployed men, aged 20 and 28, committed the crime in March 2001 in order to enrich themselves, but their haul was only 52,000 tenge (about 360 dollars), the report said. The investigation showed that the criminals also raped the dying woman. No one at the court cast doubt on the court's verdict, the report said in conclusion.
