A court in southern Tajikistan sentenced two men to death for murder, the Tajik national news agency Khovar web site reported. "The Khatlon regional court has sentenced O. Alimardonov and K. Laqayev to capital punishment following consideration of the cases of the criminals accused of committing particularly grave crimes," the web site said. The two men were found guilty of killing U. Safarov in the southern district of Qabodiyon. They allegedly killed him and then burnt his body on 21 November 2001.
