A federal appeals panel reversed the sentence of David Murtishaw, who killed Martha Soto, James Henderson and Ingrid Etayo. In a highly technical opinion, the appeals panel, while upholding the conviction, said that erroneous jury instructions tainted Murtishaw's death sentence, and commuted the sentence to life without parole
