A Hartford jury today concluded that 24-year-old Eduardo Santiago should get the death penalty in a murder-for-hire case. Santiago has been convicted of killing Joseph Niwinski in December of 2000 in exchange for a snowmobile. Santiago killed for Mark Pascual. Matthew Tyrell, a co-defendant, is serving a life sentence after taking a pre-deal 2 years ago. He testified against Santiago, as did Pascual. Pascual has accepted a plea deal and is to be sentenced to between 25 and 100 years.
