a jury in Stark County Common Pleas Court has unanimously recommended a death sentence for Edward L. Lang III for the murder of Marnell M. Cheek and a sentence of life without parole for the murder of Jaron N. Burditte. Judge Lee Sinclair will make his final ruling next Wednesday. On Saturday, the same jury convicted Lang, 19, of aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated murder for the shooting deaths of Burditte, 32, and Cheek, 40, during a robbery on Oct. 22, 2006. Lang's codefendant, Antonio M. Walker, testified that Lang was the shooter.
