a jury recommended 2 death sentences for Thomas Eugene Bevel, a man convicted in the February 2004 shooting deaths of Garrick Stringfield and his 13-year-old son, Phillip Sims, to get rid of a witness. The jury made a unanimous recommendation that Bevel, 24, be executed for killing the boy, and voted 8-4 to recommend the death penalty for murdering the boy's father.
Circuit Judge L. Page Haddock said he will formally sentence Bevel sometime after october 6.
