a suspect who had been sentenced to death in absentia by the Kurunegala High Court on charges of murder of a person at Wewegama in Kurunegala in 1991, was taken into custody by the Kurunegala Special Crimes Investigation Bureau after twelve years. The suspect who is a resident of Maggomuwa, Maspotha, is said to be a former police constable attached to a special security division. When the trial against the suspect under the charge of killing M S M Munasi of Kawdawatta by shooting him with a pistol on March 7, 1991 was being heard, the suspect had abstained from attending court.
