a Wake County jury decided to sentence Byron Waring to death. Waring, 20, was convicted of 1st-degree murder June 28 in connection with the Nov. 8, 2005, death of Lauren Redman, 22. Another man, Joseph "Joey" Sanderlin, also faces murder charges in Redman's death. Redman was stabbed and raped. Waring confessed to police, telling them that Sanderlin raped Redman while he held her down.
