Abul Kashem was sentenced to death by hanging for human trafficking. Additional Sessions Judge Salimullah found Kashem guilty of abducting a five-year-old boy and selling him in Dubai for exploitation as a jockey. Kashem was charged and convicted in absentia after the Bangladeshi Consulate in Dubai learned of the case on being informed that the child had been seriously injured during a horse race.
