According to a poll conducted by The Express support for capital punishment is slipping. 63 per cent of people surveyed expressed opinions in favour of the death penalty, compared to 80 per cent several years ago. Whilst less than half the population, 43 per cent, believe the death penalty is a deterrent, down from 62 per cent.
