Amnesty International declared that arbitrary executions and arrests, torture and poor treatment have continued in Indonesia. They also said that governmental reforms were moving too slowly. Amnesty said the abuses were worst in Aceh (Sumatra) and Irian Jaya, where separatist movements had been battling for independence.
