An Indian court sentenced to death a man, identified only as Poonaji, who was convicted of burning his wife, four daughters and a neighbour to death in a fit of rage. He had reportedly set fire to his house in a village in central Madhya Pradesh state on November 28, 2001, killing all six people inside. Pandhurna district judge Vipin Bihari Shukla handed down the sentence at the end of a two-year trial, saying Poonaji admitted he committed the crime over suspicions his wife was having an affair with the neighbour.
