An Iranian man was hanged in the northwestern city of Tabriz after being convicted of drug-trafficking, IRNA reported.
The man, who was not identified, was arrested in 2000 in a sting operation, trying to sell two kilograms (4.4 pounds) of heroin to police.
The Islamic republic imposes the death penalty for murder, armed robbery, rape, blasphemy and drug trafficking.
The Student Movement Co-Ordination Committee for Democracy in Iran (SMCCDI) said that the "Islamic republic regime is known for using labels, such as, "Drug Trafficker" to qualify its non famous opponents. This policy helps its European partners to justify the continuation of their collaboration with this repressive regime."
