At the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, prison officials executed Joseph L. Trueblood early today. Trueblood, 46, was pronounced dead at 12:24 a.m. Trueblood was condemned for the Aug. 15, 1988 murders of Susan Bowsher and her children, 2-year-old Ashelyn Hughes and 1-year-old William E. Bowsher. Trueblood becomes the 38th condemned inmate to be put to death in the USA this year.
