Brian Deegan, whose son Josh was among the 88 Australians, out of the 202 people, killed in Bali in the October 2002 blasts, said the death penalty should not be used "under any circumstances". "Well before Joshua died I formed the view that the death penalty was deplorable on any level, for any reason and is in itself a barbaric act that diminishes society, and has no particular positives," Mr Deegan told AAP.
