BANGLADESH - June 12, 2018 - Man sentenced to death for killing wife. A court in Narayanganj sentenced Babul Mia, 35, to death for killing his wife in 2004. Narayanganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal judge Md Jewel Rana also fined the him Tk 1 lakh. Mia is a resident of Nayapara village in the Narayanganj District. According to the prosecution, Babul beat up his wife Sakhina Khatun, 25, for Tk 50,000 dowry on May 15, 2004, leaving her critically injured.
