BANGLADESH: 5 SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR RAPE AND MURDER

five men were sentenced to death in Bangladesh for raping and murdering a woman. Judge Md Mohsin Mollah of the Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal sentenced Swapan Pradhan, Nazrul Mia, Milon and Bachchu to death, the fifth accused, Bappi Bepari, was sentenced in absentia. The five were also fined five thousand Taka each. The female accused, Kohinoor Begum, was acquitted. The men allegedly gang-raped Jesmin on August 6, 2006, and then killed her.
