BANGLADESH. MAN EXECUTED IN COMILLA JAIL FOR KILLING WIFE

Nasiruddin, a 35-year old farmer, was executed in Comilla Central Jail, Bangladesh, at 12:30 am for the murder of his wife Marjina in March 1996. He had reportedly strangled her after her failure to bring dowry from her parents. The convict’s body was handed over to his elder brother at the jail gate later on in the morning. The day prior to the execution he was visited by his family in prison where they eat jack fruit and sweets together in accordance with his last wishes.
