A court in Jamalpur, Bangladesh, on August 17, 2023 awarded a man death sentence for burning his wife to death in Dewanganj upazila.
The condemned convict is Shuvon Ahmed alias Premananda Khatriya, 48, from Kaunia area under Kotwali Police Station in Mymensingh.
Jamalpur District Sessions Judge Court's Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Judge Md Rafiqul Islam gave the verdict on August 17.
District Judge Court's public prosecutor Akram Hossain confirmed the matter.
He said Shuvon Ahmed set her wife Yeasmin Akter on fire by pouring petrol on her on July 1 of 2020 over a land dispute, leaving her seriously injured.
Later, she succumbed to her injuries.
Subsequently, a murder case was filed in this connection.
