Judge M Akbar Hossain Mridha of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Court, after examining the records and witnesses, delivered the judgment in absentia of the convict. According to the prosecution, Mofiz beat his wife Fuljan Nesa,17, to death at a village Shibrampur in Kumarkhali upazila on September 25, 2003, due to dowry demands.
Police could not arrest Mofiz as he went into hiding after the killing.
