A court in Cumilla on April 12, 2023 sentenced three people to death in the murder case of transport leader Rezaul Karim, due to extramarital love.
The condemned convicts are Taposh Chandra Shil, 25, and Alo Akter, 30, residents of South Satanandi village in Daudkandi upazila, and Md Rashed, 28, of Bashikpur village in Chandina upazila.
Rezaul Karim was working as Joint General Secretary of Ghazaria Paribahan Owners Association at Daudkandi Bus Stand.
Judge Zahangir Hossain of District and Session Judge Court handed down the verdict on April 12.
Lawyer for state advocate Nazrum Islam said police recovered the body of Rezaul on June 13 of 2014.
Later, his brother Md Khaza Mia filed a case with Daudkandi Police Station in this connection.
