BANGLADESH: THREE TO DIE FOR RAPING DAUGHTER BEFORE MOTHER IN FENI

A court in Feni on 14 July 2022 sentenced three people to death for raping a daughter in front of her mother at Sonagazi back in 2003.
The condemned convicts are Abul Kashem, Md Latu and Jahangir Alam.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Osman Haider pronounced the verdict on 14 July.
The court also acquitted another accused Mohammad Faruk as his  charges were not proved.
According to the case statement, Kashem, Latu, Jahangir and Faruk picked up mother and daughter at night on May 13, 2003 from Nababpur union. Then they raped the daughter at gunpoint tying her mother with a tree.
Later, the victim's mother filed a case with Sonagazi Police Station accusing the four rapists.
After examining the records and witnesses, the court handed down the verdict in presence of accused Md Faruk, assistant public prosecutor Farid Ahmed Hazari said.
Other accused of the case have remained absconding.
