BANGLADESH: WIFE, TWO OTHERS SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KILLING MAN IN CTG

A Chattogram court on July 14, 2025 sentenced a woman and two others to death for killing her husband over an extramarital relationship in 2021.
Chattogram Additional District and Sessions Judge HM Shafiqul Islam handed down the punishment.
The condemned convicts are—Rima Akter, her two associates—Shahadat Hossain and Abdul Kaiyum.
According to the prosecution, police recovered the body of Joynal Abedin from a pond at Telipara of Barabkunda on April 10, 2021.
During investigation, police came to know that Joynal’s wife Rima had developed an extramarital affair with convict Shahadat.
She along with Shahadat and Kaiyum stabbed Joynal to death and dumped the body into a pond.
Mohiuddin, brother of Joynal, filed a case with Sitakunda Police Station.
