Britain is prepared to see Saddam Hussein hanged for "serious war crimes" despite its opposition to the death penalty, Prime Minister Tony Blair declared

Britain is prepared to see Saddam Hussein hanged for "serious war crimes" despite its opposition to the death penalty, Prime Minister Tony Blair declared. Rejecting calls for Saddam to face an international tribunal, Mr Blair said: "Whatever our own position is here, I think there is a very important point of principle: that the special tribunal that is set up should be in the hands of the Iraqi people... it is for them to determine what penalties there may be arising out of that."
