CHINA: DEATH PENALTY THREATENED FOR XINJIANG RIOTERS

Li Zhi, the Communist party secretary in Urumqi, China, said "to people suspected of inciting riots between ethnic Uighur Muslims and Han Chinese who have committed crimes with cruel means, we will execute them," said Mr Li.
Meng Jianzhu, China's public security minister, echoed him, promising that the leaders of the riots would be punished "with the utmost severity".
