CHINA: FORMER JUDICIAL OFFICIAL APPEALS DEATH SENTENCE

former high-ranking judicial official Wen Qiang, 54, appealed his death sentence in southwest China's Chongqing Higher People's Court. Wen was sentenced to death in April by the Chongqing No. 5 Intermediate People's Court after he was convicted of an array of crimes including protecting organized crime, taking bribes, rape and corruption.
