China has made all-out efforts to crack down on tax rebate fraud, said Deputy Commissioner of State Administration of Taxation Cui Junhui at a national conference on cooperation between trade and taxation departments in Dalian.
Through joint efforts from relevant departments, over 55, 000 businesses had been inspected in the past year, revealing tax rebate theft and fraud worth 8.649 billion yuan (about 1.04 billion U.S. dollars).
Twenty criminals had been sentenced to death, and over 200 people working in governmental or party departments had been punished, he said.
