CHINA. MAN FACES DEATH FOR KILLING STUDENT

a man was sentenced to death for killing a 19 year old university student in a robbery in November 2006. Wei Fenghua, 28, from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, stabbed male student Wang Yang to death in an Internet cafe last November. Wang chased Wei into a cafe toilet after the offender stole a mobile phone from another student in Songjiang University Town. The Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court also ordered Wei to pay 428,000 yuan (US$56,584) to Wang's mother in compensation.
