CHINA: SEVEN UGANDANS FACE DEATH IN CHINA OVER DRUG TRAFFICKING

the identities of seven Ugandans, including two women, who face death over drug trafficking offences in China have been revealed. They were all allegedly carrying amounts in excess of 50 grams, which amounts to a capital offence in China. All were apprehended between September 2006 and July 2007 for trafficking heroin. Police spokesman Asan Kasingye has confirmed the identities. Keren Ocokuru, 36, was captured on 9 May 2007 with 1,660 grams in Beijing while Lillian Nakungu, 48, was arrested on 11 June 2007 in Urumuqi with 2,570 grams. Paul Muwonge, 31, was found with 60 capsules, Kalema Faridu, 35, 1,200 grams, Jason Mukiibi, 35, 63 capsules, Salim Nassuru, whose age was not immediately clear, 1,500 grams, and Henry Kakooza, 24, with an unspecified quantity.
