Chinese courts sentenced three Indonesian women to death for bringing in illegal drugs into the country. The women are currently being held in Kunming prison in Yunnan Province, a Indonesian embassy official in Beijing said.
He said the three Indonesians were allegedly linked to an international drug syndicate.
The Chinese court had rejected appeals by two of the defendants, and would still consider another appeal. Among the factors that had aggravated the three defendants' case was the fact that they had been sent to jail for drug offences several times before.
The official refused to name the three women.
