CHINA. THREE MEN EXECUTED IN BEIJING FOR MURDER

three men were executed in Beijing as a result of three separate murder cases, the Supreme People's Court reported.
Dai Yuezong, 46, killed his son and former wife after a dispute; Yang Wanxiong, 48, stabbed his nephew to death in revenge against the victim's parents, and Chen Yu, 22, strangled his girlfriend to death after a quarrel, the Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People's Court heard.
It was alleged that Dai, addicted to liquor, often beat up his wife after drinking heavily. He stabbed his wife, Zhang Xiuzhen, with a fruit knife in 2001, seriously injuring her. After treatment, she divorced Dai.
Their son, Dai Zishuo, lived with the father after the divorce, but moved to his grandmother's home in March 2003 following repeated physical abuses. On May 6, 2003, Dai called Zhang, demanding she bring their son to his residence, threatening to kill them otherwise.
The next day, Zhang and the son arrived. A quarrel ensued during which the senior Dai pummelled the visitors with an iron pipe, killing them on the spot. Zhang was 43, the son, 18.
Fangshan District farmer Yang Wanxiong was imprisoned for 1 and a half years for theft in 1984. In July 1998 he was sentenced to a seven-year jail term for theft and illegal possession of ammunition.
Yang was released on July 10, 2004. It was reported that he suspected his sister-in-law of reporting his crimes that led to his 1998 sentence.
On the morning of July 13, Yang stabbed his nephew with a butcher's knife when the 14-year-old had just woken up.
In the third case, Chen Yu, a migrant worker from Anshan, Liaoning Province, was staying at a Beijing hotel with his girlfriend Wei Wei in April 2004.
One night, an altercation broke out after Wei refused Chen's request to buy cigarettes for him. When Wei verbally abused his ex-girlfriend, Chen covered her mouth and strangled her. He then bought a cleaver and dismembered her body.
