China sentenced three more people to death for murder and other crimes committed in riots in the western region of Xinjiang in July.
In Urumqi, Heyrinisa Sawut, 30, of Kashgar, was sentenced to death for crimes committed during the deadly July 5 riots. Li Longfei was sentenced to death for murder after he was found guilty of beating three people to death on July 7. Ruzikhari Niyaz was also sentenced to death after he was found guilty of brutally killing two men with a pickaxe.
The ruling brings to 17 the number of death sentences handed down over China's worst ethnic violence in decades.
