The Fifth Congress of Hands off Cain is convened in Padua (Italy), inside the “Due Palazzi Prison”, on 19 and 20 December.
The Congress, which is held in conjunction with "Restricted Horizons", an Association that pays particular attention to the issues of prison and punishment, will open Thursday 19 at 13.30 with the reports of the Secretary Sergio D'Elia and Treasurer Elisabetta Zamparutti, and will conclude its works on Friday 20 late in the morning.
During the Congress will be illustrated the now irreversible trend towards abolition of the death penalty in the world, and also will be addressed the objectives of the campaign following the adoption in December 2012 of the new Resolution on Universal Moratorium on executions by the General Assembly of the UN.
The Congress will also address a topical issue in our country that, after having abolished the death penalty, it still maintains the "punishment unto death" which is life imprisonment, or delivers the "death penalty" as unfortunately happens in our prisons due to inhuman and degrading structural conditions.
Hands off Cain members who wish to attend the Congress should register as soon as possible in order to give the Bureau of Prisons the time to provide the due authorizations to enter the prison.
