Douglas Christopher Thomas, 26, white, was put to death by lethal injection. He was convicted of having killed at the age of 17, his girlfriend's parents James Baxter Wiseman and Kathy Wiseman on the 10th November 1990, with his girlfriend's help as they did not approve of the relationship. He was the first person to be executed in the State during the year, the 74th since the State resumed executions in 1982. He was the third to be executed in the U.S. during the year and No 601 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
