EGYPT: 13 SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDERING FORMER CBE GOVERNOR’S BODYGUARD

Thirteen were sentenced to death by the Giza Criminal Court for the killing of former Central Bank Governor Hisham Ramez’s bodyguard. 
The trial, which began in 2013, also focused on the defendants’ involvement in the stealing of the bodyguard’s car. 
Held in the Complex of South Cairo Courts, in the Sayeda Zeinab neighborhood, the sentencing came after listening to the last statements made by the plaintiffs’ attorneys. 
The Public Prosecution’s charges included murder, theft, bullying, in addition to shooting in a residential area and the unlicensed possession of firearms and ammunitions.
