Cairo Criminal Court on 22 May 2019 sentenced seven defendants in the case of popular resistance committees of Kerdasa to capital punishment. The court set a hearing for June 18 to deliver the ruling.
The defendants are facing charges of setting up and running a gang called the popular resistance committee in violation of the law and constitution to block the application of the rules of laws and constitution.
They are also facing charges of illegal possession of arms and ammunition and using force and violence against civil servants.
