Egypt's Court of Cassation ordered the retrial of 33 supporters of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood who were sentenced to death in a mass trial that included the Brotherhood's General Guide Mohamed Badie.
The 33 were among 183 sentenced to death by a criminal court in Minya province in June 2014 over the death of two policemen in an attack on a police station in the town of el-Adawa. They were also charged with attempted murder of five people – including a Christian resident – as well as with membership in a terrorist group and with aiding, financing and providing weapons to carry out a terrorist attack.
