The Giza Criminal Court, headed by controversial judge Mohamed Nagi Shehata, convicted the five defendants of Administrative Prosecution Authority and a cell site of a private telecommunications company in 6 October city on the outskirts of Cairo.
One of the two sentenced to death was convicted in absentia; the rest are in custody.
The court issued the sentence after consulting Grand Mufti Shawqi Allam on the death sentences for an unbinding religious opinion.
