On July 28, 2020, it took place the execution of 7 prisoners: Ahmed Mohiuddin Gad, 27 years old; Ali Muhammad Ali, 21 years old; Ibrahim Hassan Muhammad Morsi, 18 year-old student; Hazem Muhammad Salah, 28 years old; Zaki Essam Zaki, 24 years old; Essam Muhammad Muhammad Atta, 23 years old; Ahmed Salem Muhammad, 21 years old.
In case No. 6771/2013, the 7 detainees were sentenced for the murder of Ahmed Abu Duma, police inspector of the city of Ismailia (located on the west bank of the Suez Canal), which took place in November 2013. In November 2018 the Court of Cassation had rejected the appeals presented by the defendants and had also confirmed the decision of the Criminal Court regarding their death sentence.
