Abdel Rahman al-Gabarty was hanged on June 24 2018 after a death sentence in Case 119/2016, charged with the March 2015 killing of a high-ranking police official in the Suez area of east Cairo. The family of this man sentenced to death by a military court received his body from the Zagazig Morgue, following his execution earlier that morning, according to a source close to the family.
The privately owned Window of Egypt website, which is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, published a statement issued by the Suez chapter of the outlawed group, in which Gabarty is mourned as “a martyr in the prisons of the coup.”
