facing a legal challenge in Franklin Circuit Court, the state Corrections Cabinet is altering how it executes a death row inmate by lethal injection. Cabinet attorneys filed sealed documents in court late Friday afternoon that alters the lethal injection procedures.
The changes come in response to the lawsuit filed by 2 inmates close to execution. A cabinet spokeswoman, Lisa Lamb, says that the only substantial change is to the amount of the dose of the 1st of the 3 drugs used during a lethal injection. The dose for the drug which puts the inmate to sleep will go from 2 to 3 grams.
