Five people were executed in Beijing, including a former top company executive, the Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.
The executive, Chen Jinfu, who was finance director at the state-owned North China Industrial Corporation, was condemned to death for taking bribes and embezzling public funds totalling 80m yuan (about 9.6m dollars) from April 1994 to July 1996, the agency said.
"Along with Chen, four other criminals convicted of capital crimes including robbery, rape, murder, and bombing also were executed today," Xinhua added.
