Floodlights were switched on at Rome's Colosseum to mark Turkey's decision to suspend the process to execute Kurdish separatist leader Abdullah Ocalan. Italian Foreign Minister Lamberto Dini welcomed Turkey's move and said he hoped Ankara would now remove the death penalty from its statutes.
