Following the retrieval of the dead bodies of Jessica and Holly Chapman, two ten year old girls who had disappeared earlier on in the month, the Daily Mail newspaper printed an article by Mary Kenny pushing for the re-introduction of the death penalty. The article stated: "The bleak truth is that we cannot always prevent evil deeds, but we can mete out a degree of justice - by restoring the death penalty for particularly heinous crimes such as these."
