Former Harris County Sheriff's deputy Mike Griffith was executed.
Griffith, condemned for the Oct. 10, 1994 rape-robbery-murder of Deborah McCormick, issued no formal final statement.
The drugs were administered at 6:09 p.m. Griffith, 56, white, was declared dead 9 minutes later.
Griffith becomes the 15th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the state, the 22nd this year in the USA and the 1079th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
